Meter Safety
Our employees must be able to always access our natural gas meter on your property for reading, maintenance, testing or replacement.
The natural gas meter on your property does not require maintenance by you. However, there are some safety tips you can follow to avoid damage.Meter Safety Tips:
- For our employees’ safety, please secure your pets away from meters. NEVER tie a pet to a meter.
- Do not stack anything on, attach anything to, or cover a meter as this could damage the meter or piping.
- Avoid planting trees, shrubs or bushes within three feet of a gas meter. As the bush or tree grows, the roots can damage piping or the gas meter.
- Remove any snow or ice from the natural gas meter carefully with a broom or brush. Never kick or try to chip with a hard object.
