What to Know About the Current Program Changes

Texas Gas Service's Energy Efficiency Program for residential and commercial customers in Central Texas expired on December 31, 2024. Qualifying purchases and installations made by December 31, 2024, will be eligible for rebate offerings. Applications can be submitted within 180 days of the date of purchase or installation, through June 29, 2025.

The Railroad Commission of Texas is reviewing a new program proposal, and we look forward to offering an expanded program soon.

  • Can I still apply for a rebate?
Qualifying residential purchases and installations made by December 31, 2024, will be eligible for rebate offerings under the 2024 program. Customers can submit a rebate form for a purchase/installation performed in 2024 for residential retrofit or new residential construction rebates or incentives within 180 days of the date of purchase or installation, through June 29, 2025.

We are unable to process commercial customer rebates at this time, as funds for that program have been depleted.

Purchases made between January 1 and the launch date of the new program will not qualify for rebates.
  • Why did you end the Central Texas Energy Efficiency Program?
Legislation passed in 2023 established the Railroad Commission of Texas as the regulatory authority for energy conservation programs, requiring new program proposals to be submitted for approval. Existing programs sunset at the end of the 2024 calendar year. The new program is being reviewed by the Railroad Commission of Texas, and we look forward to bringing you a new, expanded program soon.
  • Why was I denied an appliance rebate when I met the requirements?
Texas Gas Service's Energy Efficiency Program for customers in Central Texas expired on December 31, 2024. Purchases and/or installations made after December 31, 2024, will not be eligible for rebate offerings, as there is no rebate program in place. We are awaiting approval from the Railroad Commission for our 2025 Energy Efficiency Program. Once approved, we will provide additional information about the rebates available and the new billing format.

If your purchase and/or installation was made by December 31, 2024, and you're unsure why you were denied a rebate, please email energyefficiency@texasgasservice.com for further assistance.
  • Will I be charged for your program since it has expired?
No, customers will not be charged for an energy conservation program during the interim period between December 31, 2024, and the launch of the new program.
  • When will the new Central Texas Energy Efficiency Program be available?
The new program proposal is under review with the Railroad Commission of Texas, and we do not have an exact date to share. Once the new program is approved, we can share more details, including a launch date.
